Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble April 2024

Company Directors Pardeep & Andy spent their Sunday taking in the beauty (and petrol fumes) of the magnificent cars on display at the Sunday Scramble at Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire. Amongst the classics and supercars were some rare beasts and even cars that are familiar to us here at Peacock Prestige.

The star of the show was perhaps the elusive Bugatti Centodiece. This limited edition supercar was built as an homage to the legendary Bugatti EB110, boasting 1600 horsepower from its quad-turbocharged W16 engine. It was a privilege to see one of only 10 vehicles at the Sunday Scramble!

On our official Instagram you’ll find this rather striking Alpina B6 2.8, based on the E21 BMW 3-Series. The E21 marked the first 3-Series in BMW’s model history and was a direct replacement to the 02-Series sedans like the 2002ti. Pre-dating the first M3 by a generation, the hottest model on offer was the 2.3L 6-cylinder 323i. Alpina, a Buchloe based tuner turned manufacturer, took the 323i and shoehorned in the 2.8L lump from the 528i – but not before some fine tuning to make an impressive 218 horsepower. Finished off in true Alpina style with the “snow plough” front splitter, 20-spoke alloys, rear boot spoiler and classic Alpina decals.

Another standout for us was, well, all of the Aston Martin cars on display. The pick of the bunch being the Raven’s Black 1979 ‘Oscar India’ V8 Vantage that had been built to X-Pack specification. That includes converted cylinder heads by Fourway Engineering as specified in a previous Bonhams listing. Also on display was a DB2/4, a Virage-based Vantage and some more modern offerings.

We also had the pleasure of meeting a certain Chris Harris for the first time. Despite painting cars for some of the journalist’s closest friends, we had never had the chance to introduce ourselves before now. Let’s hope the next time he wants something in a daft colour that he comes to the experts.
